World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of causing. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the item's level.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are various theories on how the item upgrader mod level calculation is made. One theory says that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, because the size of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The item's stats can make or break an item upgrade for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the Best item upgrade (such as reviving the dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.
All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Upgrader Kit Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to increase the luck of the Best item upgrader to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
