World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item upgrader kit. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips for items. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done using the item level.

On your PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories on how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory is that the item upgrader kit level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods which are then increased by the player's skill.

The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item upgrading determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an item that is unique, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item level, and the item upgrader kit compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is thus more useful in early game runs than later ones as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
