The GP Unique

You'll be hard-pressed to find a more stylish hatchback than the GP Unique. It features large intakes, arch extension and a two part rear wing. These are features usually reserved for French unicorns.

Thankfully, it doesn't only appear sloppy. It also feels fast. The engine is smooth and powerful and its 332lb-ft of torque arrives with little fuss at speeds below 1,750rpm. It's also well matched with the quick-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission. It's a shame that the GP Unique doesn't have a manual option however Mini does not mince words about its primary focus on lap times and an auto is definitely the best option here.

It's not without faults. The GP Unique's suspension is solid but it's not a lot of fun. When you drive on a straight and smooth B road the chassis dynamic limits can be easily pushed, but it is difficult to keep the car in line with your inputs. The front end gets a bit snatchy, and the car struggles when under the strain of irregular British bumps.

Fortunately the GP Unique's performance is fantastic when you adjust it. Its emphatic front end and body control are reminiscent of the JCW race car we drove last year. It's a blast to drive on a smooth road, and especially when you're in a positive mood.

The car's chassis feels distinct from the regular MT-09, thanks to the fact that it has much more torsional rigidity and bigger axles. The new GP has 24.7 degrees of rake, and 108mm of trail, which is more pronounced on the front than the R6's - however, it also offers incredible stability when you turn.

Another great feature of GP is the PO Generator module. This module allows you to review your inventory and the min/max level you've set for each item and any open POs your vendors have (i.e. more inventory is coming) and then generates suggested purchase orders you can then send to your suppliers.

The GP 500

The GP 500 is Airoh’s lightest GP Helmet to date. It helps to reduce neck strain, fatigue, and improve safety by reducing pressure on shoulders. The shell is designed to be aerodynamic, and has the chin curtain spoiler, which helps enhance aerodynamics and minimize wind buffeting. Its EQRS Quick Release System is similar to the one used on many motorbike helmets that are track-focused. This allows emergency services to remove the helmet without causing any harm to the wearer's head.

The GP500 is, like many modern helmets are Snell and certified by SHARP. It has a SHARP 3-star rating. While this isn't the highest score, it's an impressive rating considering it includes front to back and side impact protection.

I was awestruck by the quality of the images. The GP500 can project an image that is up to 4K in amazing clarity. It also had very low input delay when both Game Mode and Fast Mode were turned on, according to BenQ's specifications published.

In terms of the color accuracy, it was very close to perfection with an DeltaE error of only 2.3 which is extremely good. It also exhibited superb grayscale performance with clean and distinct shades. The GP500 showed subtle rainbow colors when watching the Adam Project. These were easy to see, but did not affect the viewing experience.

The sound quality is also remarkable. The GP500 comes with an independent DSP chip with treVolo Psychoacoustic Tuning which creates 3D audio effects. It has an internal quad speaker layout that is positioned at the corners of the cabinet. It is designed to create a sonic sound field for all users regardless of their seating position in the room.

There are a variety of connectivity options that include HDMI inputs 1 3, 2 and 3, and an optical Toslink SPDIF port that allows the transmission of native Dolby Atmos bitstreams to an external sound bar. The GP500 comes with two Type-A USB 2.0 ports to stream content, and it supports a 12-volt trigger for an electric screen.

The GP 900

Sceptics will point out that the GP is simply an existing naked XSR900 dressed in a Wayne Rainey frock, but the truth is that Yamaha's engineers have put their heads together to create a heartfelt and powerful tribute to the sporty heritage of the company. The GP's brand-new Deltabox swingarm and frame are 55mm wider, but are much more compact in corners due to the new chassis geometry. Meanwhile, a full-spec 6-axis IMU brings a wide range of electronic rider aids to the platform, and KYB suspension is upgraded with a bigger front fork and a longer wheelbase.

The GP's fairing, which is asymmetrically designed, has a clever trick up its sleeve, with air vents located in the cowling, to lower pressure inside and to help disperse heat from the engine. This creates a more sleek appearance and also helps reduce the bike's centre of gravity. The GP's new color TFT display is an important feature, showing call and message notifications as well as the ability to utilize Garmin StreetCross navigation and turn-by-turn directions (free for the first year).

The GP comes with three pre-set riding modes, and a custom setting that can be set manually by the rider. The GP also comes with a new suite of smartphone-connected technology such as a YConnect application that integrates smartphone integration and media control, as well as cruise-control and a USB Type C socket to charge gadgets.

The 117bhp CP3 engine is very usable and has a range of power that can be utilized at low revs. Even at road speeds the GP's midrange horsepower can easily recalculate your speed/time/distance calculations and completely dissect Google Maps estimated time of arrival. The GP's chassis has just the right amount of stiffness - it is not as painfully stiff as a R6 or as light and agile as a TT500. It's enjoyable to drive and is a real riot.
