They're easy to open and close, although I found their textured plastic coatings a bit rough on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the full suite of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has numerous options for customization. It will also send you notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the freezer or fridge requires defrosting, and when the filter needs to be changed.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill, an option that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to choose the amount of cups they wish to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown to reveal how much water remains but it's not as useful as Precise fill.

The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also boasts a veggie compartment to keep vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and dual compressors for the best preservation of food. The ice maker is one of the most efficient we've ever tested, and it produces a pyramid-shaped form of ice with a low water usage. This fridge is the perfect option for households with a single member or kitchenettes looking for a sleek design and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated as the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is crucial to prevent the risk of a freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within an hour and maintained the temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is known for its premium appliances which is why it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge remotely from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is pricey, but offers great features and functionality at a reasonable cost.

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage into an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door as well as two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of sleeker drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded down to make space for tall items. There's also a full-width storage drawer for food items and an internal water dispenser.

The refrigerator comes with an ice maker making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a little less than the most expensive counter depth refrigerator that comes with an ice maker, making it a desirable choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This feature can be adjusted using a slider located outside the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings work better than the specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray much from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. That's a good performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of your fridge's internal temperature.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey body that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It is capable of removing streaks and fingerprints, even compared to glossier stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
