It's thus susceptible to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up an automatic vacuum and mop spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
