However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room, and even automatic vacuum cleaner an area. Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most popular mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app offers a wide range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to use and understand, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models that we tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
