1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose automatic vacuum and mop that's very capable however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum cleaner vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
