World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips for items. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's an indicator of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by formulas that determine how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the area the item upgrader kit was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item level upgrade for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item level upgrade in the event that the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The performance of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
