They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
