Enhanced upgrades require a common item, rare upgrades require a unique or legendary item and legendary upgrades require three legendary items.

The marker that rerolls, unlike markers or tokens that are placed on action areas, stays on the spot until the next success is being rerolled. This allows you to not waste upgrades.

Blueprints appear in the form of envelopes at the beginning of each Preparation Stage, and are opened by grabbing them with Interact. After deciding what to upgrade, players must select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to use and pay the appropriate cost. After the player has met the requirements, he can hit the upgrade button and apply the Growth Stones. The item will be raised in level a certain percentage. The upgrade process can last between a few seconds and minutes, depending on the rarity of the item.

The helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun", for instance, increases the base defense and adds an additional 20% chance to block. The DPS "Wildfire", however, increases weapon damage.

Upgrades can be beneficial for certain items, but not because they boost stats. They are more valuable to players when they achieve the perfect roll. A perfect-rolled 200/6 500 armor set piece, for instance, is highly valued by melee PvP communities and could be worth 20-50 times the non-upp’d version.

The game will show you the requirements when you select the upgrade component to be incorporated into the item. These include the item type (either weapon or armor) the tier of the item, the upgrade Token needed, and the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade.

The game will add an item in your inventory after you have met the requirements for an upgrade. The progress bar will update to show how close to finishing the upgrade. You can also check on the status of an item upgrade by visiting any NPC who upgrades items.
