Upgrades can boost the performance of a piece of equipment and, sometimes, even add extras. The worth of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the amount of random enhancements used.

The most powerful racial Shield Razortail, for example, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capability in PvP and/or provide additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more exchangeable than the un-upgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to reroll a purchased item, such as a weapon, armor or rings. This swaps the current item for another similar item with an additional set of bonuses. Reroll tokens are a cost-effective method to upgrade equipment. However, they don't keep the level of the original item and any resources wasted aren't refunded.

The survivors can get reroll tokens in several ways, including through the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. You can also find them in chests and crates or purchase them from the store for $150 each. Reroll tokens can be used to change the attributes of a piece of equipment that could include increasing its damage or granting it a brand new stat.

Players can reroll equipment in three aspects: physical power, spell power, and health. Physical power upgrades boost the damage that melee and weapons, while spell power boosts mage attacks and rings. Health upgrades provide the player with an additional level of health.

There are three kinds of reroll tokens: upgrade, rare and legendary. Each upgrade elevates an item to a higher-quality and requires an upgraded reroll token in order to produce it. Upgrades require a regular item. Rare upgrades require an item that is either exclusive or legendary. Legendary upgrades require three legendary pieces.

The marker that rerolls, unlike special tokens or markers placed on action spaces, stays on the spot until the next success is rerolled. This lets you avoid wasting upgrades.

Blueprints appear as envelopes at the start of each Preparation Stage, and are opened by grabbing them with Interact. When they are opened, they will display a description and icon for the Ingredient or Appliance. They can purchase them from Contract Coin Merchants for a cost. In addition, players can get these stones by signing daily contracts.

To upgrade their gear, players must first find the item they want to upgrade and then click on the "level up" button. This will display a menu showing the item's current level and what it will be when being upgraded as well as the necessary amount of Growth Stones to accomplish this. The number of Growth Stones needed to upgrade a piece depends on its rarity. Rare (blue), rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires a single Growth Stone.

Upgrade components are a form of equipment that can be put into armor, weapons trinkets and gathering tools to offer an additional bonus or effect when the equipment is equipped. They can be bought through vendors, looted or obtained through questing. They can also be traded between players. Upgrade components can be replaced with new ones, however doing so will damage the previous upgrade, excluding for glyphs that can be replaced and removed at any time.

Requirements

Item upgrades give players the ability to increase certain stats on weapons and armor that they currently have. The requirements for upgrading an item will vary based on the item type, but typically you'll need Dilithium and a number of Upgrade Tokens (various options available).

The upgrade items can be slotted into equipment sets and weapons for extra effects or a higher quality item. These upgrades can come from a variety of sources, including crafting, buying from the Trading Post, karma vendors or looting from bosses and raids. Once an upgrade component has been added to an item, it can't be removed and replaced freely, however, the glyphs that are used in gathering tools can be swapped without restrictions.

The upgrade of an item can boost its Mark Level and/or Rarity. In addition, some upgrade components have additional modifiers that could further increase the stats of an item.

The upgrade to the helm "Foundation of the Sun", for instance, increases the base defense and adds an additional 20 percent chance of blocking. Additionally the dps upgrade "Wildfire" increases damage to weapons.

Upgrades can be beneficial for some items, but not because they boost stats. They are more valuable for the players when they achieve an exact roll. A perfect-rolled 200/6 500 armor set piece, for example, is highly valued by the melee PvP communities and could be worth as much as 20-50 times that of the unupp'd version.

If you choose an upgrade component that you want to put into an item the game will show an open window that displays the requirements required for that item. These include the type of item (either weapon or armor), the level of the item, the upgrade Token required, as well as the amount of progress required to complete the upgrade.
