The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.

The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum best in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency.
