The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a a fully automated vacuum cleaner, hands-off cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.

Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on hard floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

It's self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of cordless vacuums robot that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is still enough to clean most of an average-sized house but not long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for the quick and easy cleaning.
