World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of a particular item level upgrade. Based on the type of upgrade, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). The average item level can be found on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.
On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.
It's not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item upgrading determines the upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it's a unique item or a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items (click through the next document). It gives players a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.
Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item upgrader kit the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..
The Luck of an Best item upgrade can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
