World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it's capable of causing. The level of an item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its level. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the item level calculation is done. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This isn't the only thing that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item upgrader kit for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes are currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in the range, unless they are an item that is unique or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item upgrading with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
