WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade items also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current Item Level Upgrade level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item level upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade items is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade items route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader kit upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
