Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will gain an additional 3% of the previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment to which it is used (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the various Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item upgrader level requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item the original item will be replaced with an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback because it can make the item more expensive if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it could waste a lot of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player continuously enters or exits water. This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned, such as the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed).
