For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and make more noise.
