The j7+, although not as smart as the best robot vacuum cleaner Roomba S9, which costs $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum from iRobot, and it cannot clean the stairs, it's an option for those who require both a vacuum and a mop. It's not expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a long time to download updates, and at times it's difficult to tell whether the update is working until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors A hybrid is the ideal choice. This type of robot typically has a built-in water tank that allows them to vacuum and mop your home simultaneously. The Q5+ is notably gentle around obstacles like table legs and walls which makes it a good option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough when it comes to cleaning dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuums often be a bit sloppy. The Q5+'s navigation system is superb, with only a few mishaps along walls and in corners.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled with a few buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones, modify your home map or change the room's label.

If you opt for the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock, designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once it's installed emptying the bin is done without difficulty. It features a large LCD screen which is helpful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This isn't a necessity for most people however it will aid in keeping track of the maintenance intervals for your robot easily.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart well-rounded vacuum and mop. It's capable of vacuuming and mopping. Its design and features are some of the best on the market - but it's also pricey.

The base station is attractive and hides it when not in use, and the size is relatively compact. The station's main selling point is that it automates many tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do) also emptying the dustbin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot fully charged and clean.

Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the only robovac I've tried that does an excellent job of removing debris from bare floors. It's also not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

But the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as some other robovacs, which means it is sometimes stuck or confused in certain rooms or corners of the house. It can't climb stairs as well as some competitors, and doesn't come with an dock that allows you to set up an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for carpets that are soft.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who need a robot vacuum that does everything.

If you're looking to save money or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of other options available. Many of the eufy models cost significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example is less expensive and has many more features, like stair climbing and a full-function Dock, with an improved overall experience when vacuuming on floors that are unfinished, low-pile carpets as well as high-pile carpets.

The way the G30 cleans is what sets it apart from its rivals. It uses a built-in map to create an image of the non-movable objects that are in its path, remembering what it's already cleaned and where it can't access. It automatically returns to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 isn't without faults, though. The iRobot Roomba is built better and has lower recurring costs. It charges faster, has the same battery life and performs better on bare carpet or floors with low pile. It has a bigger dust bin that does not require as much emptying. It also comes with border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 is, however, is more affordable and a lot easier to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't have to be emptied as frequently and it's less difficulty with bulky items such as cereal.
