The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot automatic vacuum and mop robot/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the autonomous vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
